Sharpen Your Clairaudience Now
Definition of Clairaudience
the faculty of perceiving, as if by hearing, what is inaudible.
Clairaudience is one of the five primary extrasensory senses that are often referred to as the Psychic Clairs or Psychic Hearing. This psychic sense can manifest inside your mind as a subtle voice, ambient sounds, or music. Or, you might physically hear words or sounds beyond the normal sounds around you. Both ways of “hearing” can indicate instances of Clairaudience.
There are varying degrees of Clairaudience. Some individuals naturally have this ability as an extremely heightened psychic sense and others to a lesser extent. The good news is that Clairaudience can be developed to a much higher degree of proficiency.
The Importance of Clairaudience for Psychics and Mediums
Developing a keen sense of Clairaudience is essential for practicing Psychics and Mediums. Although these groups of individuals will use their other sensory “clairs”, Clairaudience is necessary for hearing messages of importance for a Sitter or obtaining pieces of information from a spirit entity for validation purposes.
An example for this might be when a client is asking a question to a psychic, and the psychic actually hears an answer rather than sensing it. Or, if a Medium is tuning in for a Sitter, they might hear a specific song, and asks the Sitter if the spirit they are linked with has any attachment to that song! Often, the sitter will perk up and say, “YES! That was my mom’s favorite song!!”
A Deeper Understanding of Clairaudience
As mentioned, Clairaudience refers to either the physical hearing of sounds, music, or voices that others cannot. Or, it can also mean there is an inner auditory mental perception of the same audible sounds in your inner mind, and you know that you’re not *schizophrenic. For example, you swear that you hear the voice of someone calling your name, only to discover that no one else is there. Many of us have experienced this phenomenon at least once in our lifetime. It can really freak some people out!
In my earlier years of psychic development, I would hear stories about how others were considered to be very Clairaudient because they could physically hear things others could not. An example of this might be hearing little conversations between people or music that, upon investigation, has no obvious source. I thought this was the real definition of being Clairaudient. Subsequently, I did not consider myself to be Clairaudient. I couldn’t have been more wrong!
One day an epiphany came to me that humans have both an inner hearing and an outer hearing of things that are not part of our typical five senses. I suddenly realized that I was experiencing instances of Clairaudience practically on a daily basis without realizing it. Needless to say, as a psychic-medium, this was great news for me. I believe my own inner guidance was telling me that indeed, I am actually quite Clairaudient!
This Caused Me to Do Some Serious Research
What I learned upon further research is that there are three kinds of Clairaudience. One is Internal Clairaudience which is hearing in our inner mind. The other is External Clairaudience which is the hearing of natural sounds. Then we get to the heart of the matter of Psychic Clairaudience or Psychic Hearing. This combines the internal and external modes of hearing but involves hearing things on both levels of sounds which are unexplainable and could be of a psychic nature.
What Is True Clairaudience Versus Mind Chatter?
The difference between hearing inner thoughts or natural sounds as opposed to something of a Clairaudient nature is when you ‘hear’ things that have no explanation behind them. For example, thoughts or ideas might drop into your mind that was not part of your line of thinking at that particular moment. Or, you hear a distinct voice talking to you, and no one else is around. These communications may actually be originating from:
Your Personal Higher Self Guidance
Your Spirit Guides
The Ascended Masters
or even from your Guardian Angels
If Individuals Hear Things Others Don’t, Are They Always Schizophrenic?
People throughout history that experience hearing unexplainable voices have often been accused of being “in league with the Devil” or in more modern times, Psychiatry claims that this often indicates a form of mental illness. Thankfully, today we in the field of the psychic arts are aware of the 6th sense ability of Clairaudience. We know that hearing voices, etc., does not automatically suggest that something evil is going on or that we are mentally ill.
Having said this, it’s true that some individuals do have the unfortunate mental disorder of *Schizophrenia. Schizophrenia loosely explained, is when voices and people are witnessed that are not really there.
I like what Anthon St. Maarten has to say about this on his blog, “The Divine Ear”:
Professor Ralph Hoffman, a researcher in Psychiatry at Yale University, argues that the hearing of voices are known to occur during states of religious or creative inspiration, and are not necessarily signs of mental illness. Hoffman also cites the example of the renowned mystical poet and novelist Rainer Maria Rilke, who one day heard the crystalline voice of an angel carried by the ocean wind. This profound experience inspired the writing of Rilke’s famous work
Clairaudience and Your Dreams
Have you ever awakened clearly hearing a voice talking if only for a brief moment? This happens through your natural Clairaudience. Often times, the only way our Spirit Guides and even Guardian Angels can penetrate the band of our beta thinking and get a message to us, is to come to us during dream time. This is because we are in a ***Theta brain wave state and are more receptive to those in the higher realms communicating something important to us.
Who Might Be Highly Clairaudient?
Anyone can be extremely Clairaudient. Psychics and Mediums often have a powerful sense of Clairaudience although some may not personally think so. Yet understanding that just by performing readings or doing Mediumship **sittings, this sense will automatically kick in and is strengthened by the very act of tuning in for obtaining psychic information. In fact, this occurs with ALL the sixth senses simultaneously through each corresponding chakra.
The Silent Witness that “Talks” to Us
In his book, “Awakening Your Psychic Powers, 1988, Henry Reed, Ph.D., talks about the still silent voice we all have. This is the voice we hear in the inner mind behind our own conscious thinking. Then there is another other voice, or sounds, behind that voice. That other voice is the Silent Witness. Some call this voice:
The Voice of God
The Still Small Voice
The Voice of their Higher Self or
The Voice of Inner Guidance
What Promotes Clairaudience?
The psychic sense of Clairaudience happens when the “Ear bud chakras” which are linked to the throat chakra, are activated by vibration. There could be a whole book written on this but suffice it to say, this is a simplified explanation of the mechanics of Clairaudience.
On the website, Great Western Vehicle, Clairaudience is addressed in Buddhist-Vedic terms:
… What the Buddha called “Dibba-sota” (Pali) is generally translated as “Divine ear” which is clairaudience. Clairaudience is primarily a hypersensitivity of the brain lobes that are related to hearing. This hypersensitivity can give someone uncanny hearing ability, it can also produce meditation induced tinnitus…
Where Does Clairaudience Happen?
Most individuals believe that Clairaudience originates right from the physical ears. That’s close. However, the real location of Clairaudient events occurs in the temporal lobe area on each side of the head just above the ears. This may seem like splitting hairs but to be truly knowledgeable about Clairaudience, this is good to know—especially if you are teaching psychic development to others.

**Mediumship Sitting-The act of providing messages and information from the Spirit Realm to a client or a group. A group sitting is often called, a Séance. A Sitter is someone who is receiving messages from a Medium.
***A Beta Brain Wave is mental activity measured in cycles per second. Normal waking consciousness measured in beta brainwaves may cycle at an average of 9 to 14 cycles (cps) or Hertz. Heightened Beta activity is measured above 14 cps.
Theta brain waves are measured approximately at 4 to 8 cps.
