I was hoping you could help me with something. I’ve been experiencing a block for the past month in my psychic abilities. All I’m seeing is short flashes of colors. I feel disconnected. could you possibly tune into me and give me some advice as to what’s going on. I want to set up my web page but I need to feel confident before I can start reading again.

Answer from Carol:

I believe that sometimes our psychic senses will go into a holding pattern of sorts to keep us from overloading our psychic centers. I call it plateauing. Please try not to be too concerned, it will eventually pass. Our psychic abilities tend to ebb and wane like the moon. Also, try and keep a record of when you feel REALLY PSYCHIC and then when you might feel as psychic “as a rock”. Check out the web site for the moon phases as you will eventually notice a pattern emerging of your psychic “hot days”.

Also, there are times, when one 6th sense, like our clairsentience, will move to the back burner and the clairvoyance will seem to be the psychic sense in the spotlight. That is how we develop inwardly without even knowing it.

It sounds to me as though you really need to pay attention to the colors and whatever else you are getting. There is something important there for you to notice and learn from.

Again, this will pass before you know it. The more relaxed you are about the process, the faster things will progress.

I remember back to that first year, when my mother died in June of 2001, how I dreaded the approaching Christmas season. Mom always made a wonderful Christmas for all in the family and her sunny disposition added such great light to the festivities. She was also an accomplished organist and we always stood around the massive Hammond organ and sang Christmas Carols. Yes, it was going to be a hard Christmas for sure.

My father was not faring well from all this and even though he was suffering from bouts of dementia, he too understood that mom was no longer with us.

I stayed with Dad that Christmas and we went to my brother’s beautiful home in Tucson for Christmas Eve. We did the expected reminiscing about Christmases past and tried to have a good time. When it was time to leave and take Dad home, on the way to the front door, we passed my brother’s sunken living room where the big organ was placed (we couldn’t bear to sell it). All of a sudden I noticed in the side chair by the organ, my mother sitting there. It was a very brief sighting and for a second I wasn’t sure if I really saw her or not. But in a split second I felt her energy as well Yes, I chuckled to myself, it WAS mom. She wouldn’t miss Christmas with the family for anything! Even from the other side.

So, if you are missing a loved one this holiday season or from other holidays past, just know they are really with you. Our loved ones watch over us all during the year as well. Say hello or whatever you wish to tell them. They will hear you! Hope this helps for any who are in grief or feeling sad.

On Wednesdays, I like to kick back and watch some Sci Fi channel shows. Currently, my favorite show is “Paranormal Witness”. I still check in with my old standby, “Ghost Hunters”, for an hour of mindless relaxation. And before anything else, I have to say that I like Jason and Grant. They seem like nice fellas. However, after watching the latest ghost hunting episode called ” Well of Horror”, I got a bad taste in my mouth about these two.

The back story is the client casually mentioned the names of the Spirits infesting his hotel, The Shanley, which is currently under renovation. When grilled by Jason as to where he had received this information, he told the team, “from psychics I’ve called in to investigate”. Immediately we get a slight negative body language reaction from Jason and Grant. Was this my imagination?

Two more times during the show it seemed, negative references were made about psychics. The second one was at the Reveal, “Nothing personal against psychics, but take what they have to say with a grain of salt”. Okay, this wasn’t so bad either. The last straw came for me when the Roto-Rooter duo, when driving away from “The Reveal” and were doing the usual spiel of congratulating themselves on holding yet another fabulous investigation, Grant added, and I quote,” It was nice learning about the history of the hotel and you (meaning Jason) warning them about the psychics—it all played out beautifully (fist butt).” At this point I was seething! Why was I so angry? I couldn’t shake this off so I decided address this as my main article in this month’s newsletter.

For me “Ghost Hunters” is a family show. It’s really not about hard-core paranormal investigating but rather television entertainment where tons of expensive equipment is used for shock and awe value but usually garners few results. (Hey, I really love the flashlight trick.) Another question I ‘ve been dying to ask is, “How can you really do a thorough investigation in just one attempt?” To me, true investigations could go on for about a week or more. The truth is, these people are not really qualified to do the in-depth paranormal investigating like traditional institutes such as the American and British Societies of Psychical Research. Furthermore, in the so-called “reveal” people are usually informed that what they’ve seen or heard can be chalked up to something like “you have a fear cage in your basement and didn’t really have an encounter with a ghost in your basement. Often they are told apparitions witnessed are most likely the client’s own reflection caused by headlights of cars going by. Ouch! This is supposed to make them feel BETTER? Yes, there are times when “debunking” is warranted. Yes, it’s true not every strange occurrence indicates a Spirit(s) present. Yet, I’ve noticed countless times where victims of the “reveal” being thoroughly embarrassed and humiliated by the “debunking” of their reported of activity and then left with, “We’re just a phone call away”. (These guys are so charming, what can one say to that?)

I have asked myself many times, “Why doesn’t the show offer alternatives and more helpful info by teaching people how to clear out paranormal infested locations?” It’s great to get the confirmation of claims of paranormal activity, however, if I were someone confronted with a troublesome ghost and the team is merrily motoring their way back home, and ”a phone call away” is not going to do much to bring the closure needed and finish the investigation. Something seems to be missing here. I have to admit, of course, I am not privy to what goes on behind the scenes of Ghost Hunters. There may actually be procedures set in place to help the client clear locations of troubling Spirit activity. To my knowledge, however, it’s never been mentioned.

… My former teacher, Loyd Auerbach, renowned paranormal investigator, and his book “Ghost Hunting and How to Investigate the Paranormal”, is actually a revered guidebook by some on the “Ghost Hunters” team. Hey guys, Loyd usually takes a Medium along on his investigations.

For many, seeing and sensing Spirits and experiencing otherworldly phenomena is a daily occurrence. Chip Coffey, featured on “Psychic Kids, is a good example of a helpful show  assisting people (mainly children) who have natural Mediumship abilities. He does this, first of all, by displaying compassion and understanding. And, with the aid of a therapist, he starts the healing process for frazzled victims who are under constant Spirit contact, either directly or indirectly. He let’s them know they are NOT crazy, they do not have to be controlled by what goes on, and he begins to teach them how to manage their abilities. He also introduces them to others who share the same abilities.

“Ghost Hunters” philosophy and how they present doing paranormal investigations is their take on the subject. It is certainly not the end all on how to do ghost hunting or truly connecting with Spirits. In fact, their show is mainly about documenting activity. That’s IT! What I would like to see more of is additional information after an investigation and the offering up other resources and options. And I strongly want to suggest to the Roto-Rooter guys to use some forethought about what is said on the show. My feeling was that they couldn’t wait to put down psychics and that this was the perfect opportunity to do so. Am I wrong? Of course, there are psychics and mediums that are not truly gifted, and some are out-and-out frauds, but the same holds true for any profession. It would have been nice if the guys had stuck to their original advice about the client exercising discernment before believing anything and everything they were told and leaving it at that. I guess this article reflects a little bashing of my own, but I feel this issue needed to be addressed—even if just a few people read this Blog.

We psychics and mediums have spent years trying to overcome the negative connotations and stigmas attached to being in our profession. It’s been a long hard road and yet, with more and more light-workers gaining altitude, things are getting better because of other shows that features what we really do. We don’t need the dissing our profession on global television. And, I have to say I’ve been diplomatic about the Ghost Hunter’s show in this Blog.

Every show has its little downfalls to be sure and in Ghost Hunter’s defense, there have been some awesome documented paranormal events presented over the years. “Ghost Hunters” has helped make paranormal investigating more mainstream and acceptable. And, I am certain many of their client’s are very happy with the results. But, when it comes to mentioning psychics on the show– play nice guys!

Our aura is our spiritual signature. When noticing a person’s Aura that is bright and clear, you can be sure that such person has a good heart and is somewhat spiritually advanced–even if he/she is modest or unaware of it.

When we realize that our Aura is “on display” and people are able to “see” or sense it, we will be more apt to watch what we think. This is why it’s a good idea to practice clairvoyantly seeing and improving our own Aura. In fact, this can be done by looking in a full length mirror with a light plain wall behind us and the lighting dim. By working on this process, we can become emotionally and physically healthier.

Practice looking at yourself when having good thoughts and feeling good. Practice dredging up negative thoughts, real anger, resentment, bitterness, etc. and see the difference. If you become ill, notice the changes in your aura and make note of it. We are what we think and our aura colors and the clarity of them is absolute proof in the pudding. It helps us, as well, to recognize intentions of other people. Surely, the world has the potential to become a much better place if all people could see and read Auras. When we cross over to the astral plane, the seeing of auras is a natural fact. We can hide nothing there!

Colors and intensity of the aura, especially around and above the head, have VERY special meanings. Watching someone’s aura you can actually see the other person’s thoughts before you hear them expressed verbally. For example: you can learn to effectively see a lie every time. No one can lie in front of you undetected. We cannot fake the Aura. It always shows our true thoughts and intentions.
Note: Of course, it depends on the situation if you wish to confront that person or not. It’s best to use this ability very carefully and not to always blurt out, “YOUR LYING!”

Noticing a person with a gray or dark aura, you can rightly suspect that this person has unclear or darker intentions (whether on a conscious or subconscious level), regardless of how impressive, eloquent, educated, “good looking”, humble, masquerading as holy or spiritual, or as “well dressed” as he/she seems to appear. Note: Think of Ted Bundy or some of our Presidents… Hmmmmmm

By learning to accurately read your own Aura, or someone else’s, you can diagnose malfunctions in the body (diseases) long before physical symptoms become evident. By consciously controlling your Aura (by your thoughts), you can actually heal yourself. However, healing of the physical body is nothing in comparison to what seeing and reading auras can do for our consciousness, spiritual development, and our awareness of the true nature of things.

Concentration Exercise 1:

Print and place the picture (in Fig 1. below) about 8 inches in front of you. Look exactly at the black spot for 30 seconds or so and observe the colored half circles with your peripheral vision. Resist the temptation to look anywhere else but the black spot.

Note that colored areas seem to be surrounded by the “Aura” of a different color. When peripheral sensors are stimulated for some time; we have color sensations, much different than when we use our normal central vision. The longer you concentrate, the brighter the “Aura” is around colored areas, because your sensitivity increases.

Concentration at ONE spot for long enough is the key. Rather than the true Aura, this exercise demonstrates the principle of how to look to see human Auras by making you aware of specific capabilities of your usual eyesight and perception.

Advanced Concentration Exercise 2:

This exercise aims to stimulate the communication between both hemispheres of the brain, thereby increasing the “processing power” needed to see Auras. Place the picture in (Fig 2. below) about 8 inches in front of you. Stretch your hand forward so that one of your fingers is between and underneath circles. Change focus on the tip of your finger and overlook the circles. You should see 4 circles. Then aim to overlap the middle two to see ONE CIRCLE WITH AN AQUA BLUE CROSS on top of your finger, in the middle between the two.

Seeing the cross is the evidence, that the left hemisphere of the brain (connected to the right eye) is communicating with the right hemisphere (connected to the left eye). This exercise turns out to be extremely beneficial: 5 minutes of it doubles your bio-energy and promotes self-healing. The cross will initially float and seem unstable. Experiment with the distance from your finger to your eyes to achieve a perfect cross.

You gain a significant benefit after 3-5 minutes–preferably without blinking, but the “magic” duration seems to be 45 minutes of concentration at the time. This makes a REAL difference to your mental and clairvoyant abilities. In my experience, it is best to start with a minute or two and gradually increase the time every week. Short and intensive sessions of concentration and practice seem to be better than longer ones.

Gradually, with practice you should be able to achieve and maintain the cross without the finger. While maintaining the cross, try to become aware of the other 2 circles as well as everything around using your peripheral vision. You should see auric colors around the colored circles above with your peripheral vision. When you can analyze surroundings using your peripheral vision, without losing the cross (and the concentration), you are really on your way to seeing and reading Auras.

Learn to Heal from Grief by Communicating with Loved Ones Who Have Died

The loss of a loved one can be one of the greatest challenges in life. Whether you lose a loved one or a friend, there is a period of profound sadness and grief when such an event occurs. Learning how to connect with the World of Spirits where loved ones have moved on to after dying, is a life changing experience.

Spirits Want to Communicate!

When a person’s body has experienced what we term death, there is that essential part of them, the soul, which immediately moves on to another place of existence.  They are met by loved ones who have passed prior and an assortment of caring Spirit Guides and angels. There is a period of orientation where they “review” their lifetime on earth and the lessons hopefully learned. Once acclimated to their new state of being, they are able to communicate with those left behind.

In cases where the loss of a loved one was, for example, a spouse, there can be intense loneliness and concern for the future which is emotionally devastating. The loss of a parent or child in any circumstance can bring on years of unrelenting grief and pain. While grief is a normal and usually healthy response to loss, it can become unhealthy and counterproductive if it persists too long. The truth is, holding on to these emotions for years does nothing to change what has happened and only serves to hold back those still living. Our loved ones do not wish us to live in this state of sad limbo forever. They are the first ones to encourage those still living to let go and know that their loved one is okay and living a beautiful existence not so far removed from our own.

My sister who is not what one would term, highly religious or spiritual could not come to terms with our mother’s passing. She couldn’t wrap her mind around the fact that someone survives the death experience to go onto another plane of existence. Then she had a dream. In this realistic dream our mother telephoned her and they had a conversation. My sister asked her if she was okay and our mother replied she was still getting to know others who were there. There wasn’t much more to it. Needless to say, my sister was deeply shaken by the experience. I could have told her that a dream is one of the most common ways a loved one will try to communicate. In a mind-set where one does not believe in life after death, or anything of a spiritual nature, the deceased have one heck of a time trying to get a message across. Prior to this happening, I doubt she would have believed me if I had tried to explain this phenomenon to her. Now, she’s a believer.

Mediumship and Spirit communication provides a tool to help one come to terms with loss in a positive manner. Understanding that our loved one truly lives on, albeit in another state of being, helps to alleviate grief and can also help soothe guilt or other feelings of unfinished business. Talking with them again, can bring about the needed healing. As a teacher for Spirit Communication, I have spent years witnessing the truth of this fact.

 Learn to Heal from Grief by Communicating with Loved Ones Who Have Died

Some may ask, did I have a premonition of the great tornado which struck less than an hour away from where I live? The answer is no. I like so many other people here in tornado country, stay vigilant when bad weather hits. For days though, I had been feeling headaches and lethargy. One can attribute this to daily living as well. However, when this Category 4 tornado did strike, I remember feeling unusually calm and almost unconcerned during the time it was happening. Was this just my own built-in defense system or were the angels keeping me from becoming too panicked? I prefer to believe the latter. I only know that this was like an almost near death experience for me from which, in the aftermath, I felt a renewed and appreciation for life and the small miracles it brings us. Along with it came the awareness of just how fragile, fleeting, and precious life is. I can honestly say this is the first time in my life I really really felt this.

Revisiting Japan’s Mega Quake

I watched a program on the “Green Channel” which showed minute by minute footage of the Mega quake and the resulting tsunami which in turn caused the meltdown of the nuclear reactors in Japan’s stricken Fukushima. Coming from Arizona to Alabama, I couldn’t help but think of the Palo Verde nuclear plant just outside of the phoenix metro area. Although a tsunami there is unlikely (being in the desert), it still causes one to stop and think about those affected and how their lives changed in an instant.

Approaching 2012

The upshot of all this is that, I don’t believe the disasters and earth raging is finished. I believe that they will increase in the next few years. However, I do not believe as so many people do about the fast approaching 2012 date and that we will all perish along with the earth on one particular date set aside by the ancients. What I do believe, is that there will continue to be a series of global events that will shake us (no pun intended) to our very core. This is a time of inner reflection and understanding that we are not except from Mother Nature affecting our lives in very dramatic ways. We are learning more about compassion and how to reach out and help others more than ever before. This too can bring a much stronger bond with the creator and thankfulness for what time we have here and that we don’t always have control over what happens.

As a medium and being so close to the Alabama tornado zone, in the days following the tragic event, I have felt distressed Spirits all around me and have been asking my angels to help cross the Spirits of those who died and are still wandering the earth plane. Do the angels really need our help in this? Some might think not. However, I myself am aware that they appreciate any help we can give energetically to the cause, just like with 9/11. The fact is, is that we are closer to these spirits from our earthly vantage point than the angelic dimension. I ask all sensitives and my students to go within and see if any Spirits are showing up which need help. Try and talk with them and explain in a kind way they are no longer living and need to be aware of the light which is available for them to fully cross over. This may help. Remember, any sudden death can be the cause for a soul to become lost and not be able to cross as they are not aware they have

died. If one is feeling anxious or that they are being affected by the earth’s recent events, look to any spirits who might attach out of confusion and ask them to go. Not all Spirit attachments are malicious. They are just like you and I and feel the same emotions we do.

It is a wonderful gift to cross Spirits over. It is, in fact, one of the greatest “relief efforts” we on earth can assist the higher realms with.

Lower Astral Plane Entity

I teach in our classes about the different planes of conscious which exist in the ethers–the lowest plane being our earth plane and the next one is the astral plane. This plane is stepped up in frequency and vibrates at much faster rates than our earthly plane. This holds true for each of the subsequent planes but I won’t be discussing them here.

And as with all the other planes, the astral plane has many sub planes like gradients of color. The hierarchy of the astral plane starts with the lower sub planes where the basest of Spirits reside. These are the ghosts, aka earthbound spirits, and the darker entities sometimes seen as shadow people. These spirits are often “intelligent” meaning, they can, if so desired, interact with souls on the earth plane whether it is positive or negative in nature. There is another phenomenon we in metaphysics call “astral shells”. These shells belong to the departed but are totally void of consciousness. They are in fact, dead empty forms.

When a soul passes from the earth, several things happen. The etheric body (our exact body double that holds our form together), leaves the physical body, sticks around for several days, and then begins to disintegrate. Most of the time, this process takes only about three days. The actual consciousness of that individual will transition to the higher astral planes using the vehicle we call our “astral body”, to where most Spirits reside soon after passing.

Here is what Rudolf Steiner (February 25 or 27, 1861 –March 30th, 1925) an Austrian philosopher and esotericist, said about the ethreic body after death. (Paraphrased)

At the moment of death, the first thing that happens is that the etheric body together with the astral body separates from the physical body, which is left behind and begins to disintegrate, returning back to the mineral world. The etheric body hovers near the physical body for three days. Then the etheric body begins to disintegrate, and the astral body carries the ego with it out into the cosmos…

Shell Bodies

A sub level of the astral which is not often talked about is the level which holds human (and animal) shell casings of souls who have passed. Why is it important to know more about this plane? Let me explain. A medium or clairvoyant might “see” these phantoms and wonder why they are so flat and won’t communicate. And the experience can be frustrating because they don’t know what they are seeing. In actuality, these are the shells of the departed rather than the spirit consciousness Spirits take with them to the higher astral, and are totally void of awareness. These astral bodies (shells) are in effect, “lifeless.”

“Astral shells” are also known as “astral forms” and “astral corpses. If you think about the fact our physical bodies are put to rest in a cemetery, this plane holds these lifeless forms in a shell-like casing until the frequency of atoms begin to break down. What if someone was cremated? It doesn’t’t matter. The shell leaves the body at death and ends up in this sub plane regardless of being buried or cremated. It stays around for however long it needs to.

Earthbound Spirits are Not Shell Bodies

Some spirits choose not to make the complete journey across for various reasons and are sometimes seen, felt, or heard. We call these “earthbound” spirits or ghosts as I mentioned above. I am not referring to crisis apparitions or a loved one making a onetime appearance. I am speaking of those who try and hang on long after they should have made the transition. This could go on for a hundred years or so. The type of medium who helps these souls make the final crossing, are called “Rescue Mediums”. (I’m sure most of you have seen the television program, “Ghost Whisperer”. The character, Melinda Gordon, in that show was a rescue medium.

My First Time Experience with an Astral Shell

In the early days of what I call my psychic quickening, I began to see these flat figures analogous to seeing cardboard cut outs. I’ll never forget it the first time I encountered one. I was walking through a hospital parking garage and I noticed a woman with dark short hair sitting in a mini-van not moving. I felt creepy about her and that there was something wrong. She looked quite flat (dimensionless) in appearance. Her body and clothing–almost gray. The closer I got, however, the figure started to fade until there was nothing left to see. This perplexed me until I learned of what I was perceiving. What I had encountered was an “astral shell”. And, I’m sure a hospital–even a hospital parking lot, has numerous forms like these hanging about. You may even even seen one or more of these on occasion and not known what you were seeing.

Again, it should be understood that these astral corpses have no consciousness or intelligence to interact with. And many times, astral shells are often mistaken for departed loved ones. The “Astral Shell” of a soul varies from person to person. The ones who had elevated spirituality and high ideals disintegrate rapidly. There is no particular thought vibration remaining to hold fast to the astral body after the soul has withdrawn. Its higher nature, in effect, has counteracted those lower vibrations.

Attention Mediums! You Can’t Cross Them Over…

So, if one happens to encounter one of these “astral shells” in any circumstance, please know there is nothing to be afraid of. They cannot hurt you as they are not alive. Also, there’s no sense in attempting to cross these astral forms over. Nothing will happen if you do because, in essence, there’s nothing there. They have to disintegrate at their own rate and it’s best to leave them alone. Just know these “dead again corpses” are like a photograph from the past which holds no space on the earth plane.

In answer to your first question, for myself, I usually sense, or feel a Spirit from the other side who wishes to communicate standing next to or behind a particular person. I also clairvoyantly “see” them with my inner vision. Sometimes the Spirit is standing far in back of the sitter. It just depends on how much Spirit wishes to be noticed. Some mediums see a Spirit in a faded transparency. Others see them very clearly in full 3-D dimension. That is not the case with me although I often visually see earthbound Spirits (ghosts) and astral bodies of people. The latter happens when I least expect it. Everyone who is a Medium or is gifted that way perceives differently and no one way is better than the other.

As for fairies, (aka faery, fairy, faerie, fay, fae), most who are familiar with the  realm where earth entities reside, know that faerys are not all that friendly. I know this is hard to believe, but they are not your typical Disney Tinker Bell archetype of stage and screen.  And for this post, I am not going to debate whether fairies truly exist or are just the imagination of an inebriated or delusonal person.

Fairies have been known to interact with humans from time to time countless centuries back to  the time of early man. Most of the encounters have not been positive. They don’t like to be caught and will definitely try and enchant a person in order to get away. The most well-known example of this is a fairy or leprechaun (also called elementals) promising an individual a pot of gold for something in exchange. There is always a trick involved. And, sometimes it’s pretty nasty  I mention in the handbook that if someone does feel they have truly interacted with a fairy whether in a dream or vision, to back away as soon as possible. I know faeries exist as I have seen them. Believe it or not!

Some Assert that Spirits Guides Are Actually Our Higher Selves Speaking

Some skeptics  assert Spirit guides are just  our “higher selves and don’t really exist”. Well, think about this. There was a time when people didn’t even believe in a higher self. The same goes for Spirit guides. For those who have had a visitation from a guide or an angel, the experience is quite astounding and there is no mistaking it. Sometimes, the physical presence can actually be seen and I have talked to many who are responsible and sound individuals who have had a blessed encounter. The sense of a loving watching over force nearby is unmistakable, and there are many instances of someone’slife being saved by a strangaer that dissapears shortly after a miracle save. Then as quickly as they appeared, they are gone. Phoof!  

Spirit Guides are Always With Us Offering Help

Some guides are very normal and modern looking. Most of the time, they are not the  turbaned oriental sages with flowing robes. If someone wishes to believe a Spirit guide is only their higher self that is their opinion. I certainly don’t teach that people have to believe in what I do. You will find, however, that the very foundation of Spiritualism and Mediumship is hinged on the fact that we have Spirit helpers assisting us with Spirit communication. 

And finally dear M. pertaining to the person you mention above who does not believe in Spirit guides, then they most likely do not believe in the astral realm or the Spirit realms of existence. And if they don’t believe in these other realms, I am not sure why they call themselves a psychic. We don’t always get the answers by ourselves. We all have helper Spirits from other dimensions.
